Preparing Your Shipment For an LTL Carrier

Less Than Truckload (or LTL) shipping refers to the transportation of relatively small freight. Typically, LTL shipments weigh between 151 and 20,000 pounds. Less Than Truckload shipping offers customers the ability to ship their goods without meeting the pricing demands of shipping a full load. While LTL package delivery shipments take longer to arrive at their final destination, the financial boons can be worth the wait to many customers. If your shipment isn’t a rush order that requires same day shipping, LTL trucking is the perfect way to save money on your packaging orders.

Given the fact that LTL shipments are transported through multiple loading and unloading ports, there are a few things to keep in mind when preparing your shipment for an LTL delivery. Here’s a quick overview of what to keep in mind when preparing packages for LTL shipment.

Proper Packaging of LTL Shipments:

Load freight onto pallets or packaging freights prior to pickup.
Use sturdy shipping containers made of corrugated fiberboard to prevent scuffing and damage from condensation, humidity and vibration.
Place the tracking number on each side of every piece of freight.
Do not advertise the value or contents of packages. This will reduce the likelihood of losses.
Be sure to include proper labels, bar codes and RFID to ensure correct routing and delivery.

If your order is a rush delivery, a same day shipping service is your best bet. But, if you can afford to wait an extra day, LTL shipping saves money and is hassle free.

Literally the most helpful delivery I’ve ever had. Daniel was extremely friendly and flexible; dealing with everything the Bronx was throwing at him — 90 degree weather, horrible traffic on a one way street and a less than great parking situation; then STILL took the time to make sure he brought all FORTY EIGHT of my heavy packages (I work in marketing and ordered over 1,300 custom umbrellas) to both my basement AND the second floor of my building. He was fast, but he wasn’t rushing and throwing things around like he wanted to get out of there, either. He handled my packages with care. Usually delivery drivers in my area refuse to take packages beyond the front entrance, so Daniel was far beyond what I expected. If all Eveready Express delivery drivers are like this, then I’m going to use them for every order going forward.

I engaged Eveready Express for a very last minute, urgent business need to transport a few items from a NJ office to NYC same day (so last minute that I called them around 3:30 and needed them to pick up the items before 5pm). The great reviews are what initially caught my eye and I have to agree, the service was fantastic!! Not only did they pick up and drop off within the timeframe I needed, I also received email confirmations along the way once my items were picked up, in transit, and delivered with photo proof! The representatives were very courteous and informative and I'm glad this worked out so smoothly. I left one star off because it was more expensive than I had anticipated BUT considering the distance, restrictive timeframe, and awesome result, I'd say it was worth it in the end.
